The room after sunset

We design every room twice: once for the day, and once for the hours after the sun goes down.

Most of the time people spend at home is in the evening. Yet lighting is often the last thing decided: a point in the middle of each ceiling and a few switches by the door. We work the other way. Before we choose a single fitting, we ask where you will sit after dark, and what you want to see from there.
Light the walls, not the room
A room feels calm when its light comes from several low sources instead of one bright one. We wash the walls with small pendants and hidden strips, so the surfaces glow and the fittings almost disappear. A textured wall of fine concrete or lime plaster does the rest: it catches the light and turns it into something you can almost touch.
Warm light, a dimmer on every circuit and nothing glaring at eye level. Simple rules, but they decide whether a living room is a place you pass through or a place you stay.
